Evergreen Hospice marked its 35th anniversary with a successful Evening of the Arts gala, raising more than $13,000 to continue its mission of providing free, community-based supportive services to individuals and families in Markham, Stouffville and Thornhill.

These services assist those living with life-threatening illnesses, caregivers, and individuals coping with the death of a loved one.

The Sept. 26 milestone event celebrated not only Evergreen’s legacy of compassionate care but also the community’s generous support, a news release said. As a non-profit, charitable organization, Evergreen Hospice relies on donations and limited government funding to provide its essential services at no cost to clients.

“Reaching 35 years is a remarkable achievement for Evergreen Hospice,” Laura Lavallee, CEO of Evergreen. “We are incredibly grateful to the community for their continued support, which allows us to offer critical care and comfort to individuals and families during life’s most challenging moments.”

"Evergreen Hospice’s 35 years of service have been dedicated to ensuring that no one in the community faces illness, caregiving, or grief alone. As the organization looks toward the future, it remains steadfast in its commitment to providing compassionate care to those in need."
