Based in Markham, Evergreen Hospice celebrated its 35th anniversary with an “Evening of the Arts” gala on Sept. 26, raising more than $13,000 to support its mission of providing free, community-based services for people and families in Markham, Stouffville, and Thornhill.
The organization offers services to those living with life-threatening illnesses, caregivers, and people coping with the death of a loved one. The milestone event not only highlighted Evergreen’s legacy of compassionate care, but also demonstrated the community’s generous support. As a non-profit, charitable organization, Evergreen Hospice depends on donations and limited government funding to provide its services at no cost to clients.
The gala featured a silent auction, live entertainment, and a special art exhibit by renowned artist Meera Sethi.
“Reaching 35 years is a remarkable achievement,” said Evergreen CEO Laura Lavallee. “We are incredibly thankful to the community for their support, which allows us to provide care and comfort during life’s most difficult moments.”
For more than three decades, Evergreen has been committed to making sure no one in the community faces illness, caregiving, or grief alone. As it looks ahead, it remains dedicated to providing compassionate care for those who need it most.
